Ten Places to meet men

So you have a few days left to secure your date for Valentines night and do not panic if you are dateless check out Soyara’s ten key places to meet men. Remember if you are successful let me know, I might get my wedding outfit ready for your big day, who knows. Happy Valentines Day!

Do it yourself (DIY) Classes

So Ladies you know that men like being the handyman and there would be no better place to find useful men then at a DIY class. So I suggest you book yourself in for the next evening class at your local college and learn how to do all of those home improvements and snatch up yourself a cutie who can handle an electric drill too. Good luck girl.

Football or Rugby Matches & drinks afterwards

I am not a big football or rugby fan but men love these activities. You have to do something different to get something different right. So where the men are, that is where you should be. So get your best mate to go with you to the next football match and scream, shout and cry when all the men do and rub shoulders with all the good-looking supporters.

Gym

This is the perfect place to meet some hot bodied men. Make sure you go near the new piece of equipment and ask that strong hunk to show you how to use it. Men love giving women guidance in an environment where they are so confident and let’s face it gym is often some men’s castle.

Gallery or museum

Get some culture in your body and go to your nearest gallery, exhibition or museum. If you see a good-looking guy near an interesting picture ask him, what does he think of it, to try to strike up a conversation You will get a great day out and hopefully secure a date with a creative guy.

Festivals e.g. Beer Festival

Music and beer is a perfect combination to meet men. You need to make sure you are dancing near the good-looking guy you have had your eye on all day and ask him if he is enjoying the music, has he been to the festival before ? etc. Let me know how you get on.

Political campaigns

So we all know that politics is still a man’s world, so that is why you need to be right up in the party. Offer your free time to your local political campaign centre, you can find them on the web and get ready to learn the inner scope on your political party and get closer to the cute guy running the local elections team.

Community Projects

Everyone wants to see their community improved. So you should check out your local library and the internet for what voluntary projects interest you and you may be rubbing shoulders with that good-looking guy with a passion for helping inner city youth. You have to be in it to win it so get yourself off to your local community centre to see where you can roll your selves up and muck in.

Weddings

Ladies you know we love weddings and start imaging what we will look like in our own white dress, number of bridesmaids, the cake etc. When a man sees his best mate getting married it does ring some bells in his mind. So make sure you have on your best dress at the next upcoming wedding, catch the bouquet and shimmy over to him on the dance floor. Rock on with your Sexy self.

Bookstore

Contact your local bookstore for when the next book signing is and get yourself down there. Your man-to-be may be there scanning the aisles for the next best book and getting it signed by the author. Get your reading glasses on and casually talk to him about the last book that you read.

Supermarket

So it does not matter what supermarket you go to. Make sure that you are down the aisle with your cute jeans on and fresh lip-gloss eyeing up that cutie by the beans section. Walk over and ask him to get the box of tea bags on the top shelf that you cannot reach. A quick hint, it helps if you go shopping with a basket rather than a trolley because the basket may indicate that I am single and the trolley says, “Hello I have my man and my kids waiting at home.” To improve your love life you have to ditch the online food shopping for a while.

Get Healthy

New Year, New You.

So I hope you have enjoyed your Christmas and New Year break and are ready to shake off the old weight and welcome the new healthier, sleeker & sexier you.

I have had created seven steps to help you reach your goal.

  1. Start Walking: Walking is free, easy and fun if you walk in a good location, but better still bring your best mate with you and make it a girls day out. Strap on those trainers and let me know how you get on.

  2. Fit exercise into your life: you can always squeeze in a bit of exercise everyday. When you park to go shopping, park further way to squeeze in a 5-minute walk. Get off the bus or train a stop earlier when you are going to work to fit in a power walk that will get her heart pumping and your mind ready for a day at work. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Try it; trust me you will feel better for it.

  3. Snack Bag: Prepare and carry a snack bag that will be your lifesaver when the munchies start. So the night before prepare some snacks like nuts, fruit, yoghurt, carrot sticks and your recommended 2 litres of water. If water is a bit bland for you mix it with juice or a dilute drink. An alternative is to drink herbal tea; I am drinking cranberry and raspberry tea as I write this blog for you.

  4. Select the better food option: Now I love a bit of steak and the skin on the chicken, but we all know that this is not the best option. So instead, I choose to eat at home and particularly if I am eating out grilled fish or skinless chicken that is baked or grilled but preferably not fried. Do not forget your plateful of salads and vegetables that will keep you full. If you cannot buy fresh vegetables the frozen option will be just as good.

  5. Invest in your health: Rather than buy that new dress that you have seen. Why not buy a pedometer that you can wear to track how many steps you take each day. When you use a pedometer you can set yourself daily targets of how many steps you want to take each day and slowly increase it and loose more calories. Also you can join a gym; they always have some great membership deals at this time of the year. If not, you can buy some home gym equipment and do a 30 minute exercise routine in the comfort of your own home. Remember whatever you choose to do “moving is improving”.

  6. Eat less: It sounds really simple but this really works to cutting the excess weight. When you go out to eat, choose a dessert but share it with your friend or take it home and have it the next day, so the calories are spread out.

  7. Health is important: Make improving your health as a priority. It is just as important as getting your hair done or your monthly leg wax and facial. Plan to be active and stick to it. You will love the results a good eating plan and scheduled exercise will give you. I look forward to seeing the new sleeker and healthier you.

Love on a Budget

Love on a Budget

Having a rich dating life in the middle of a recession…impossible? Let me show you how it is done.

Dating in a recession
You got to have fun but be careful with your money in this economic crisis. This is the time to think of budget friendly dates and activities to do with your special other half and get through this recession together in love. If your other half does not understand that it is not the amount of money you spend rather than the amount of quality time you have together then may be that person should not be your other half.

Cinema on cheap night
Check out what day your local cinema does half price or two for one tickets and book your date for that day. You get to see the same great film, probably a little less crowd and all within your budget. You buy the tickets & let your date buy the snacks.

Book Signing or workshops
Check out events on the web and on your facebook, Ning or other social network page. These events are usually free or a great price and you will learn lots and also get fantastic networking opportunities, you never know who you might meet.

Galleries and museums
Head off to your local science museum or gallery and get some culture. There is always a new exhibition or launch happening check out your local listings and let me know how you get on.

Bicycle Riding, running & Walks
Get on your bike, you and your partner can take a ride in the country, have a great date and keep fit at the same time. If you cannot ride then how about both of you go for a run in the park. On the other hand, if that is too much sweating and puffing how about a nice even paced stroll hand in hand to the local sightseeing events.

Theatre tickets
If you love theatre shows, you will love them even more when you get two for the price of one tickets on certain days or discounted matinees shows. You can often get a good seat if you book early, contact your theatre today.

Restaurants
We all love a good meal, but not often the whacking great big bill at the end that can often give you a mini heart attack. So instead look on the web for great eating out deals. There are always promotions going on www.lastminute.com or www.toptable.com

Free Concerts & workshops
Depending on the time of year, there are usually free tickets to concerts and workshops in your local area. This is a great idea for a date and you will have a great time.

Bars & Pubs
Now for those of us that love a glass of red. Book your next date on the days when the bars and pubs are having Happy Hour or cheap night Mondays. You can drink to your heart is content and still have money home for a cab or a night bus.

Cosy Night’s in
This is always one of my favourites, get a bottle of wine, tasty ingredients and cook that special person their favourite meal and then serve up a hot dessert after….I will leave this to your imagination.

If the recession has not affected your dating habits and you are still spending like it is going out of fashion and you are still attending lavish restaurants, full price theatre tickets, then I am free this Friday.

Get your dream job in 10 easy steps

Make your CV and covering letter unique

You are an individual so make your CV, application form and covering letter stand out from the crowd. Do not go mad with colours and borders on a CV. A subtle border and underlining or printing on slightly thicker CV paper could give you the slight edge over your competition.

Widen your horizons

If you have been looking in the same newspapers for jobs then you need to widen your search. Maybe post your CV online on a few other job sites, talk to your friends, have some key networking meetings to find out what is available on the job front, apply to a company who you have never worked for before. Go to job fairs and training workshops.

Networking

To get the job you want, you have to let the employers or key decision makers know who you are. Get to know people who are in the industry that you want to go into to, e.g. go out to networking events, social events and meetings that will your face in the place. Join the business groups on pages like face book, Ning, Ecademy and twitter. Many companies are on the social networking sites now so make sure you are too.

Where do you fit in

You need to work for a company where you will fit like a glove. So there is no point wanting to work for an investment bank and you hate early mornings and late finishes. Look at companies websites, opening hours, employee benefits and assess whether they work life balance fits your ideal.

Be encouraged

After the rain, always comes the sunshine. Remember you may be going to hundreds of interviews and being turned down; keep going until you get your “yes.” Thomas Edison tried 1000’s of times before he was successful with the light bulb.

Do your homework and be prepared

When you go for an interview, always get there early and make sure you have done sufficient research about the company e.g. key people, success for that year, key targets for next year and challenges to be overcome.

Timing is crucial

Be on time. If the journey takes an hour leave earlier to get to the location because you never know what might happen on the way.

Dress for the job

When you are attending the interview, make sure that you look the part. First impressions count and your attire says more about you than what actually comes out of your mouth. So a good tailored interview suit will create the professional element that you need for an interview.

Show off your gifted and talented side

Your application form and CV will show your academic and work experience, but do not forget about highlighting your creative and extra-curricular activities, that an employer may be interested in. An example, always mention your voluntary work and charity bungee jumping, some employers may be looking for this type of person for their company. Also at the interview, if you are allowed to, do a short presentation showing the interview panel blogs that you have written online about the industry and any new ideas that you have that will improve the efficiency of the company.

Question Time

Always make sure that you have some questions to ask at the end of the interview. Remember interviews are a two way process. The employers are seeing if you will fit in and you need to ask questions to assess whether you want to take the risk with this company and become an employee. Have a list of 5 to 10 key questions, e.g. on an article that you have read recently or an interesting workshop you attended. If your questions talk about annual leave and pay increases these may not put you on the right footing with the interview panel.

PS: Looking for a job under this economic climate is not easy. But keep trying and you will find the right job for you. Create more opportunities to expose your great talents by filling your unemployed time with some worthwhile voluntary work that might give you the edge when you are applying for the next job. Keep going!

10 top tips to losing weight

10 top tips for Losing Weight and feeling great

1. Buddy Up

Go to the gym, walking, running or any type of exercise with a friend. When you team up with someone else it brings in accountability. So when you next want to throw in the towel because it is raining or you would prefer to watch TV, because you will be letting your friend down, this should be the drive to get your trainers on and get moving.

2. Switch your goals

When you have reached your milestone, do not treat yourself with food. Try buying yourself that new outfit you have had your eye on. Alternatively, buy that new lipstick or book yourself in for that well deserved massage and spa treatment. Do not take one-step forward and two steps back on your mission for a better, healthier body

3. Change your routine

Doing the same thing over and over again can be boring. So change your activity. Run for 40 minutes on the treadmill instead of 30 minutes. Walk in a new park instead of your usual route. Take a class or even order a new exercise DVD. Train with a new exercise friend and see how you can encourage each other. To get a different body you have to do something different. If you want to remain the same, then keep doing the same thing, the choice is yours.

4. Visualise your success

You need to see yourself at your ideal shape or fitness level and you need to keep this image in your mind when you are trying to achieve your goal.

5. Vegetables and fruit

Make sure that vegetables take up half of your plate when eating. Your plate should be very colourful. Potatoes are not the only vegetable you can eat either. Make sure that you are eating your good dosage of fruit, whether you eat or make it as a smoothie, you need to aim for 5 pieces of fruit and vegetables a day. I bring a snack bag around with me so when I get peckish (wish is often ) I just reach into my bag and feed on baby sweet corn, carrot sticks, fruit and cherry tomatoes. If you prepare your food and bring it with you throughout the day, it will reduce the temptation to buy food, which often may have high calorie content.

6. Be active every day

If you do not have time to go to the gym, you can add exercise to your normal routine. Get off the bus a stop earlier, take the stairs instead of the lift. Dance during the adverts during your favourite show.

7. Drinking

Ladies need to very careful with the amount of alcohol that they drink because it can have an effect on weight and fertility if it is not taken in moderation. Now I am not saying to not enjoy the odd glass of wine, but you need to remember that alcohol has a high calorie content. So instead of a red wine for dinner tonight, trying swapping it for a juice or better still a glass of water.

8. Do not eat after 8pm

It is not the time you eat, it is what you eat. Let me break this myth for you, you can eat at anytime but if you are eating 2 chocolate bars, then you are going to get fat, yes or yes ? You need to make sure that your food intake consists of fruit, vegetables, protein , fibre and carbohydrates and portion control is very important. If your portion of meat for example if more than what your hand can hold, then this is too much food for your body.

9. Do not skip meals

The minute you stop eating, that is when your metabolism will not work. You need your metabolism to keep turning over which processes all of your food and gives you energy and in turn helps you to lose weight because it is burning all of your calorie intake. When you skip food you ARE GETTING FURTHER AWAY FORM YOUR GOAL. Try to eat a small snack every three hours, and to lose weight you need to eat more frequently than the three main meals a day. Try it and see, it works for me.

10. Food diary

Keep a food diary, which will track everything that you eat. It is very useful to show what part of the food group you need to eat more of and it will also highlight when you eat too many treats or what time of day you may get tempted to indulge in that sugary snack.

Vision Board for your goals in life

Vision Board For Your Life's Goals.

Now what do you really want in life? E.g. clothes, nice restaurants, better body, 3 holidays a year etc. To get where you want in life, you need to have a vision or picture of it in your mind’s eye. To be it you have to see it. So I created my very own vision board of all the things that I want to do or be in life.
MY VISION BOARD
My vision board holds pictures of my family, business growth, health, money, faith, countries I want to visit on holiday because these are the things that I want to accomplish in life. If you want to go on holiday then put a picture of the country where you want to visit.

If you want, a better relationship put a picture of a happy couple. If you want to change, your job then put a picture of your vision board of the job you really want.

The three steps to becoming what you want in life are:
1. Create the life on paper by making a vision board.

2. Review and keep reminding yourself of where you want to be by looking and refreshing the vision board.

3. Take action and each day take a step to making the vision board a reality.
You can do it, everything takes time and practice.

The following acronym; FOCUS should help you to keep striving for your dreams.

Follow
On Course Until Successful

Let me see your completed vision board by emailing it to me at info@soyaras.co.uk.

Good luck.
